It's easy to lead yourself to believe that joining an online dating site is going to be the answer to all of your problems, but what happens when you join one of these dating websites and you just are not getting that much attention at all? Does it mean that you need to throw in the towel and give up, or are there some 'secrets' to getting a little more attention from women online?
One of the first things that you need to really take in, is that meeting women online has a lot of similarities to meeting women in any other venue. Just like you cannot just stand in a bar and expect to have women walking up to want to meet you, you can't just join a site and expect that you are going to get hit in the face with instant messages and women who are interested in you.
As long as you get that message loud and clear, then there is hope. An advantage that online dating has is... there are a lot of good looking women with good jobs and busy lives who are joining these kinds of sites because they don't want to go out to bars and clubs and deal with all of that noise when they want to meet someone. So, you do run the possibility of meeting quality women, women that you might not get a chance to meet if all you did was pick up women in the usual nightspots.
Are you attracting attention?
If not, then there is a good chance that it has a lot to do with the way that your profile is set up. You are trying to use words and pictures to give an impression of yourself, and that is not always easy. You really need to take your time when writing out your profile, and put in some 'creativity' into it. After all, if it reads just like any other guy's does, it's not going to make you POP out to any woman that might be having a look.
The other thing is, you still have to be the one who makes the move most of the time when you are online. It's still the expectation of most women that the guy is going to put the first foot forward. That may not be true with ALL women, but it does ring true for most. And that is where you really need to stand out. Most guys are just going to compliment a woman, tell her that she looks good in her pictures. They are not going to start a REAL conversation.
Are there enough women in YOUR area?
This is another catch with a lot of online dating sites. If you don't live in a huge metropolitan area, then there is a good chance that there may be only a few women that are in your area and in the age range that you are looking for. If this is the case, then you may need to EXPAND your search to include places close by you. Remember that on most dating sites, the men easily outnumber the women. If you are looking in an area where there are only a few women, there might be 3 guys for every woman on there.
