Having heard of couples that met and successfully dated online you are now exploring this option for yourself. But you want to date successfully so that you don't waste your time or energy on dead end online relationships with people who are not serious and are just passing time online or with those who are unavailable since they are in committed relationships or those that are the normal run of the mill psychos from every part of the globe. So how do you date online successfully?
1. Be clear in your mind. Before you start to date online clarify for yourself what it is that you want. Do you want a relationship that can lead to commitment or do you want a short term relationship while your partner is away or do you want a fling? Know as plainly as possible what it is that you want. There is so much clutter online that if you don't know what it is that you want then you will spend inordinate amounts of time just browsing away your life.
a. Choose the right dating site or sites. This will be the dating site (or sites), that has what you are looking for. This selection can be a daunting task as there is a proliferation of dating sites that claim to offer various types of services and results. Do your homework and research each site until you get one (or a few), that inspires confidence in you and where the type of person you are looking for would be hanging out.
2. Be cautious. To date online successfully you must proceed with caution. Unlike other relationships you need to be extra vigilante as you are taking the word of someone you have never seen and you cannot look at their body language to verify the truth of their written words. Make sure that what they are telling you adds up so that there is consistency in their conversations. Watch out for things that seem off to you or if the person becomes too intrusive or controlling. An online relationship should progress naturally like a normal relationship. If it rushes to quickly be wary or if progresses to slowly take heed...all may not be well.
3. Be honest. To date online successfully and to get what you want then you need to be upfront with those you meet online. If you have no interest in a partner from a particular part of the world or of a certain belief system then don't waste their time but get out as quickly and as graciously as you can. As you get to know your online partner there may be things that you are uncomfortable with or don't like and you need to decide if these are deal breakers. Don't assume things will get better when things about them make you uncomfortable or wary. Deal with them as soon as you can. It is better to break up at the onset then to keep leading them on when your interest in the waned when you found out one or two things about them.
If you put into practice these 3 behavior traits then you will be able to date online successfully. An online dating experience can be immensely rewarding if you meet the right person. Theses 3 traits help you sieve out the people and the attitudes that would make your online dating ineffective.
